Job Description / Essential Elements
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide support to the health services department and district nurse for the services and activities related to the district health program. Receive guidance and supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures; serve as a health liaison between the students, parents, schools and the district office; prepare and update student health data for the district.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
1. Assist District nurse in school health programs and mandated district-wide hearing, vision and scoliosis screenings:
a. Assist scheduling classes for screenings.
b. Assist health care providers as needed on screening day, e.g. teacher notification, bringing classes to the hearing and vision screening locations, data recording.
c. Data entry of screening results in SASI (student data base)
2. Review student immunization records and advise schools and parents of immunization needs:
a. Assist with mailings, and phone calls if necessary, notifying parents of needed vaccinations. Requires Spanish/English fluency, as needed.
b. Data entry of immunization records in SASI.
