Position: Custodian I
Department:Custodial Department FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Head Custodian Pay Grade: 9
SUMMARY
Performs routine custodial and grounds cleanup at school and related facilities.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the first level in the Custodial series, requiring some prior experience but no formal training. Advancement to Custodian II or higher positions will require completion of the District’s probation period (at least 1 year on the job), a demonstrated ability to function independently with general instructions or work orders, and the ability to perform light maintenance.
ESSENTIAL TYPES OF DUTIES (Examples)
- Sweeps, scrubs mops, washes, and polishes floors. Washes windows, counters, and walls. Vacuums rugs and carpets. Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork. Cleans chalkboards and erasers. Empties pencil sharpeners.
