Job Description / Essential Elements

INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE

Responsibility:

Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, assists teacher so that a greater degree of individualized instruction can be attained.

Essential Functions:

1. Assists students individually or in small groups in learning activities.

2. Corrects papers and tests and prepares materials under the guidance of the teacher.

3. Helps motivate students and encourages them to work to their capacity.

4. Performs clerical duties as required by the teacher.

5. Assists with room environment and understands and communicates school rules to students.

6. Operates office and AV equipment as needed at the grade level.

7. Possesses ability to understand, read, and follow oral and written direction.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Assist with record keeping and keeping management systems current.

2. Order materials and supplies under the teacher’s direction.

3. Work with students in P.E. program.

4. Instruct students during special events.

5. Ability to assist with class routine, scheduling necessary materials when a substitute teacher is in the room.
