Substitute Food Service Assistant II - (Multiple Sites)

Job Description / Essential Elements

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Food Service Supervisor, assist in cooking and baking activities; participate in the assembly and serving of lunches and snacks at a high school central kitchen; inspect food packs to assure quality and quantity of food items; maintain work area and equipment in a safe, clean and sanitary condition.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Food Service Assistant II class is a single position class. The incumbent assists in the basic preparation, cooking and heating of food items. Food Service Assistant I incumbents work in a central kitchen assembling and packaging food for transport to District satellite serving facilities and assist in serving lunches and snacks to students and faculty.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

Assist in preparing and cooking entrees, soups, vegetables, gravies, meat dishes or other main dishes as specified by school menu; bake cookies from frozen dough; check recipes and estimate quantities of supplies needed or when program requires. E
