Substitute Instructional Aide Pool

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of a classroom teacher, assists in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students at an assigned elementary school site; prepares instructional materials and performs a variety of clerical duties as assigned. Often required to support more than one teacher and classroom.

Requirements / Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Minimum of 48 college units or AA degree OR passage of the District’s proficiency test in reading, writing and math.
Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading.
Usage of correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.
Able to perform routine clerical and record keeping tasks and operate a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment.
Reading and writing communication skills; able to follow oral and written instructions.
Able to demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups and ethnic background. …
