Job Summary
Substitute Instructional Aide
Position Summary
Under the direction of the supervising teacher, the Substitute Instructional Aide provides instructional and classroom support to students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning objectives and promote academic success. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities and assignments, implementing teacher-directed instructional plans, monitoring student safety and behavior in various school settings, maintaining classroom materials and records, and communicating student progress, observations, and incidents to appropriate personnel. Substitute employees provide temporary instructional support and staffing coverage based on school site needs and availability.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education:
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
In accordance with Education Code 45330 and the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, all Instructional Aides employed by the Madera Unified School District prior to January 8, 2003 shall meet one of the following requirements by June 30, 2006. Paraprofessional Aides hired after January 8, 2002 must also meet one of these requirements at time of hire.
