CLASS SPECIFICATION
Environmental Technician
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs general pesticide control functions by applying restricted and non-restricted pesticides in or around school and administrative buildings, facilities and sites; operates medium-sized equipment to maintain and care for lawns and landscape areas; and performs related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An Environmental Technician is responsible for performing pesticide control functions, including mixing and applying various herbicides, insecticides and fungicides to lawns, landscaped areas and buildings to treat pest, disease and weed problems. An incumbent is responsible for learning and applying governmental regulations related to the use of pesticides and ensuring that the application of pesticides is done in an environmentally safe and effective manner in accordance with all state and federal standards.
