Job Summary
DEFINITION:
Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation or designee in concert with District-selected experts, when necessary, this position will perform journey-level skilled work in diagnosing, overhauling, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance of district buses, white fleet vehicles, and other automotive equipment.
Requirements / Qualifications
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education: High School Diploma or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency (i.e. GED).
Experience: Four years’ experience as a heavy-duty journey-level diesel and gasoline mechanic. Experience with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and propane fuel systems desired.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
-Valid California Class A or B Commercial driver’s license with air brake and passenger endorsements;
-Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Automobile Certifications (e.g. engine repair/performance, transmission; suspension & steering; brakes; heating and air conditioning, vehicle diesel, etc.); AND
-Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) School Bus Certifications (e.g. diesel engines; suspension & steering; brakes, drive train, air conditioning systems, etc.). …
