Job Summary
Under the direction of the site administrator and in coordination with the school nurse (if applicable), the School Health Aide supports the health, safety, and well-being of students. The Health Aide provides basic first aid, manages student health records, assists with medication administration as authorized, and supports a safe and inclusive school environment aligned to whole-child practices.
The Health Aide plays an important role in ensuring students are healthy, present, and ready to learn.
Job Description / Essential Elements
A. PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under general supervision, to assist the School Health Specialist with a variety of school-wide
clerical, organizational, and health-related duties
B. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Assist with communicable disease control including classroom inspections for head lice.
2. Assist with school-wide health screenings including schedules, records, materials and
supplies.
3. Follow up on health care referrals by Health Specialist and assist families in accessing
needed services.
4. Record health information in individual student health records.
