FOOD SERVICE WORKER

Job Description:
Under supervision, to assist in the preparation of school lunches; to serve lunches at a main or subsidiary cafeteria; to perform routine cleaning tasks in a school cafeteria; and to do related work as required.

Qualifications:
1. Knowledge: Knowledge of basic food serving utensils; sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance.
2. Ability: Ability to follow written and verbal directions; read and write English; perform assigned tasks without close supervision.
3. Experience: Six months of paid or unpaid experience in food preparation and kitchen maintenance.
4. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
5. Possess valid California drivers license.

Typical Duties:
1. Assists in the kitchen by helping prepare fruits, vegetables, sandwiches and other foods.
2. Sets up and serves hot food, sandwiches, beverages and other foodstuffs at serving times.
3. Assists in cleaning and storing cafeteria utensils, equipment and food supplies.
4. Washes trays, pots and pans and cleans and sweeps kitchen areas.
