JOB SPECIFICATION
INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT III – SPECIAL ED/HEALTH
THE POSITION
Under general supervision, assists a certificated teacher in the supervision and instruction of regular or special education students; relieves the teacher of routine clerical duties; assists students with special health care needs; and does related work as assigned.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Works with students individually and in small groups, assisting with specific instructional or learning tasks. Helps students master assigned subject matter. Assists students by interpreting classroom assignments. Reads to students and listens to students read. Assists pupils with use of audio-visual equipment. Advises students on the use of community services. Administers and scores tests. Takes attendance and lunch counts. Supervises students at lunch, on the playground and on field trips. Applies student management techniques. Provides specialized health care services, as prescribed by a doctor. May be required to perform services for students at various work sites daily.
